"An absolute highlight of our Paris trip – highly recommend Yves!

We did a private 4-hour Louvre tour with Yves from Broaden Horizons as a family of four, and it was excellent. He got us through all the famous exhibits such as the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Winged Victory and more without it feeling rushed or chaotic in that huge place. He knew exactly how to move around the crowds and kept things flowing nicely.
What I liked most was his energy and enthusiasm. He really loves what he does and it shows. His stories and explanations made everything much more interesting than if we'd just wandered around on our own. It made our whole Louvre visit so much better. We definitely wouldn't have got nearly as much out of it without him.

If you're going to the Louvre, book this tour and ask for Yves. Totally worth it. Thanks Yves!"

"More Than a Tour — A True Understanding of Notre-Dame

Our visit to Notre-Dame ended up being one of the highlights of our Paris trip.

I had visited Notre-Dame before, but what made this visit different was understanding it. Our guide didn’t just point out features — he explained the meaning behind them, how the space was used, why elements were designed the way they were, and how they connected to the people and history around the cathedral. It transformed the experience from “beautiful building” into a story you could follow as you walked.

By the end, I had a much deeper appreciation for what I was looking at, along with several memorable stories I’ll continue sharing whenever I talk about our trip. If you want more than a surface-level tour and actually want to understand Notre-Dame, I’d absolutely recommend booking with Broaden Horizons."

"It’s worth calling out: there’s a vast difference between someone who “leads tours” and someone who can genuinely teach a place.

"Fantastic private tour of the Louvre with Yves

During our trip to Paris just before Christmas, our family — father, mother and two teenagers — had the pleasure of doing a private Louvre tour with Yves from Broaden Horizons. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our visit.

Yves met us outside the Louvre and immediately helped us navigate through the large crowds in a very efficient way, which made entering the museum quick and stress-free. Before we started, he asked if we had any specific wishes for the tour so he could tailor it to our interests. We told him we were happy to be surprised — and he certainly delivered.

Yves speaks excellent English and guided us through the Louvre with great enthusiasm and knowledge. He showed us many of the museum’s highlights while following a very smart route through the enormous building, making sure we saw the most important works without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

What we particularly appreciated was how he involved everyone in our family during the tour. He managed to make the stories engaging not only for the adults but also for our teenagers, which made the experience enjoyable for all of us.

His storytelling, energy and passion for art made the experience truly engaging and memorable. We learned a lot and enjoyed every minute of the tour.

"Great experience!

Wow!!! Yves had an excellent knowledge base of history, the items in the Louvre, and how to best navigate the maze and crowds. Yves was also very nice, accommodating and funny. "Cold, wind, and rain did not dampen our spirits…on a walking tour.

I reserved a walking trip of Marais and as soon as we started the rain started too. Yves has the “can do” spirit and if I was willing so was he. We stopped for coffee twice and had lunch too; I needed to warm up. He also found special places to enter like the library. Yves is very knowledgeable on the history of the area. His sense of humor and agreeable nature made for a wonderful tour. I only wish I was here longer so I could do another tour with him. Thank you Yves. "Guide Tour with Yves

Yves, was a great Tour guide. He did showed us all the must see in our list including Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa and we also got to see the Crown Jewels shortly before they were stolen, And after the private Tour he escorted us to where we could take pictures with Pyramid. We had the two hour tour and I would recommend The Tour with Yves as a must do."

"Highlight of Paris!

I am so glad that I came across Yves when looking for a Louvre tour guide because he made the experience one of our best moments in Paris! Yves cares deeply about art and history but he also cares deeply about making sure we enjoyed our time. He tailored the tour to our interests and was the perfect balance of insightful and humorous. In 3 hours he showed us much more of the Louvre than we could’ve seen ourselves and tied all the different sections together thematically. I cannot recommend Yves enough for any Paris museum tours!

"A fast paced yet very informative tour

Yves provided us with a truly enjoyable and very educational whirlwind tour of the Orsay museum. Amazingly covering the classic art traditions of France through the revolution and modernity to the wonderful impressionists.

Yves quickly established rapport and made sure we were in sync with each other. Even if we are familiar with and love much of the art and history he shared, he filled a lot of blanks for us too.

Especially the more detail about the societal context and the regime of the academy and the salons was very enlightening. As was the influence of technology in detail.

We will definitely want to do Louvre with Yves next time."

"Outstanding tour with Yves viewing the highlights of The Louvre.

We move from place to place seeing items from the Louvre collections with Yves providing interesting and historical information all along our route. "The Louvre - 2hr Tour

We had an outstanding tour with Yves as he showed us the best of The Louvre! His knowledge and understanding combined with the enthusiasm he brought to our tour provided a excellent experience. We moved quickly from area to area while he gave us the facts and history of the artifacts we viewed. Yves was clearly prepared for our varied questions and did his best to take us through the vast museum efficiently. We followed his advice and timed the tour to finish at the museum's closing time which provided us excellent views of the most popular exhibits. I highly recommend this tour with Yves. "We had an amazing visit to the Louvre with Yves!

He’s incredibly adaptable to his audience, even if you don’t know much about art, he makes everything feel accessible and fascinating. He guided us through less crowded areas so we could really enjoy the museum, told great stories, asked questions, and kept the tour interactive and fun instead of just talking at us. Time flew by!

"2 excellent half-day tours: Ile de Cite & sites of the French Rev. I would not hesitate to book with Broaden Horizons.

We booked 2 half-day tours with Ives and Broaden Horizons tours: Ile de Cite tour and a tour of the French Revolution sites. The Ile de City tour was the first half-day and is perfect for first-time visitors or people who have not been to Paris in a long while, such as us. We covered the Latin Quarter, Ile de Cite and a bit of the St Germaine area as Ives explained the history of Paris, dating back to the Romans. He had photos and maps to aid in his explanations and it really made the history come to life and more understandable. The same can be said for our second half-day tour of the French Revolution, Both days he also answered our general questions about Paris and suggested sites, restaurants, etc we might enjoy during out stay. I 100% recommend Yves and Broaden Horizons and will recommend him to friends and family. We learned so much about Paris and had fun doing so."

"Best in-depth tour in Paris!

Best private tour you can find in Paris, especially for history lovers! I booked a 3 hour Napoléon tour with Yves, and he customized the trip accordingly for my background and knowledge. It is such a bless to walk around Paris and listening to the story behind each monument and details. "Don't delay, book this today!

Our tour with Yves was a highlight of our 3 weeks in Europe and was worth every penny! Yves clearly knows the Louvre inside and out, and we saw so much more in our 2+ hours than we ever would have on our own. Yves listened carefully to my daughter's interests and picked up that my husband was a history buff, and he tailored the tour effectively. He walks fast, talks a lot, and knows how to zip around the crowds. "An enjoyable overview of Paris and the French Revolution

My wife and I took a private Revolution Tour in August with Yves on our trip to Paris from Florida. I found the tour very fun and enlightening. I've recently become something of a French Revolution nerd, so I very much enjoyed putting sights to the places I'd read about and getting a sense of scale for the city, then and now. If anyone in your party is not such a French Revolution nerd, however, don't fret-- neither is my wife, and she found plenty in the tour to enjoy. The information is accessible, and the tour covers subjects from the Revolution up until now, including the Napoleonic and Imperial eras. If you have no interest in the Revolution at all (are you crazy?), you will still get an awesome overview of Paris and the last 200+ years of history that brought it to this place in time. Yves was personable, informative, and generous with his time. The tour went an extra half hour to cover everything, and we MOVED. Wear walking shoes and bring plenty of water, because you will be walking for the full time, and if you have any interest in history at all, you will enjoy every minute."

"10/10 Louvre Tour – Worth Every Minute!

My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of taking a 2-hour evening tour of the Louvre with Yves — and it was unforgettable! In fact, he went above and beyond, generously giving us more than two hours of his time.

Yves was so warm and welcoming from the start, and his knowledge of the museum and its art was nothing short of incredible. The Louvre is massive and can be overwhelming, but he made sure we saw many of its most iconic masterpieces while also sharing fascinating stories and insights we never would have learned on our own.

Trying to condense the highlights of such a vast museum into just two hours is nearly impossible, but Yves masterfully crafted an experience that was engaging, educational, and stress-free. Without him, my wife and I would have been completely lost — both literally and in terms of what to prioritize.

"Such a wonderful guide, for children as well as adults!

As my 13-year-old says, "Yves was the G.O.A.T." The way he could engage my boys (11 and 13) during a 3-hour walking tour and also a 2-hour tour of the Louvre was truly impressive. We haven't done a great job of teaching them about art/architecture in their lives so far and I was so worried they would be kind of "checked out" (they were also super tired) but he was wonderful with them, and they were riveted the whole time. He ascertained immediately how to best reach them (i.e., he knew just exactly what facts/stories would pique their interest, and how to make them laugh). I loved that, later during our trip, our son entered a cathedral and told me, "Mom, this is an example of flamboyant gothic." He definitely wouldn't have known or had any interest in this topic before our tour with Yves. I learned so much during our tours as well. We are now recommending him as tour guide to everyone we know."

"Never Disappoints!

Yves never disappoints! This is now the third time we've hired him to take us around for a tour that has exceeded expectations each time. We'd been with him in Orleans and done a tour of Saint Germain des Pres in Paris, but this time around, after having researched his new tour of our own neighborhood, the Quartier Latin, we were left really pleased. Yves manages to incorporate many different artistic movements with the political and economic winds of the time to tell a great, cohesive story for wherever we've gone with him. "Unforgettable Louvre tour with Yves!

We'd been to the Louvre before but we wanted a special experience for our teenage granddaughters. Yves delivered in spades! He gave us insights into art history, art curation and even art chemistry! He made on the spot changes to the tour to incorporate our granddaughters' sudden interest in baroque architecture (thanks to a tour of the Opera Garnier the previous day) and my wish to squeeze in the Caravaggios as an appetiser to the major Palazzo Barbarini exhibition we'd see in Rome the next week.
The girls enjoyed their personally curated tour, Yves was engaging and entertaining, and we oldies appreciated the new insights he gave to art we'd previously experienced. The girls really took in the information he imparted and demonstrated this in the observations they made later at museums in Rome and London.
And he was better value than a small group tour - which are pretty good, I admit, but imagine having your own personally created tour, with the ability to pivot at your whim.
Just go for it, you won't be disappointed!"

"The best! A dream come true

I can say without a doubt that the Private Tour of the Louvre with Broaden Horizons was the BEST investment we made in Europe.

Yves is an excellent, knowledgeable guide who opens the doors to fascinating and well-organized knowledge. My advice is not to go to the Louvre on your own, because you will get lost a lot, and you will end up tired probably walking the same galleries. If you can make the tour with Louvre with Yves, you will learn like never before, and make the most of your visit.

Something I love is that Yves is not an amateur, he is a real expert, with a lot of knowledge about different periods and artistic movements, painting techniques and world history. At the beginning of the tour he will ask your interests and thus accommodate the tour for you.

We plan to return to Paris and return to take a tour with Broaden Horizons. Personally I love art and have done a lot of research, so I enjoyed talking to Yves about something we both love, it was like chatting with a friend.

PS. During our visits we saw other tours, huge groups, many could not even see the painting they were talking about. To spend on such a tour, better invest in a tour with Yves (which, by the way, is very good price!) and you will have a private experience. Your Spanish and English are very good so you will not have communication problems."

"My partner and I had the pleasure of going on a 8 hour walking tour round Paris with Yves yesterday and loved every second of it!

The tour was originally meant to be with a focus on Napoleon, however, after Yves learned that my partner didn’t have much knowledge in this area and I also had an additional interest in Ancient Rome, he adjusted the tour to make it suitable for both of us. This didn’t detract from what we wanted to see originally and instead we ended up seeing so much more than we originally thought we would.

He was filled with knowledge and anecdotes about different areas of Paris that I think would be impossible to replicate if you were to try and explore Paris alone.

The knowledge was really impressive, but we were equally impressed by how fun the tour was. We were a little apprehensive heading into the tour, as 8 hours is a long time to spend with someone you’ve just met. Yves quickly put our fears to rest with his friendliness, jokes and charisma. The day flew by and not once were we bored or hoping for it to be over. It was a shame when the tour came to an end.

Highly recommend a tour with Yves and we look forward to booking on again whenever we’re next in Paris. Thanks again :)"

"Guided Louvre tours with Yves

I had two wonderful Louvre tours with Yves last week--which is to say that his energy, kindness, and informed intelligence are fresh on my mind. Our mutual 'discovery' of an ancient Sumerian poem--"Lamentation for the City of Ur"--one of the earliest known poems in what later became the elegiac tradition in poetry... well, that was a "wow" moment for me. (I am a writer.) That happened during our second 2-hour tour, when Yves suggested that we could simply go to the places where the crowd weren't, and I happily agreed. So much fun to follow Yves as he nimbly guided us through African, Mesopotamian, Sumerian and other sections of the museum I might never have visited otherwise. A joy. (Yves also generously took some extra time to ensure that I had a good introduction to the Italian Renaissance galleries, our original destination before the crowds dissuaded us from spending our entire tour there.) Yves is warm, engaging, and highly knowledgeable--so I can highly recommend him as a tour guide. I'll also say that the Louvre can be kind of overwhelming to navigate on your own... at least for me! So the tours I booked with Yves through Broaden Horizons were super extra worth it, and made my limited time in Paris much more enjoyable and worthwhile. Thanks, Yves."

I had the opportunity to tour Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris with Yves, who demonstrated a deep understanding of the history and architecture of the neighborhood. Take me a greater understanding of the history of Paris. The tour was extended longer than expected because Yves gave me the opportunity to know more things about the neighborhood like visiting the Library of the Institut de France. "Terrific guided Louvre tour.

My friend and I lucked out. We had the wonderful Yves all to ourselves on a tour of the Louvre museum. "Yves is the best!

We had two truly exceptional tours with Yves during our time in Paris: the 2-hour Paris Essentials tour and the 2-hour Louvre highlights tour. He is such a wealth of information and a great storyteller that both times we wish we had booked a longer tour with him. He goes out of his way to tailor the tour to your interests and really makes the most out of your time together. My partner and I are pretty nerdy tour people who love to ask lots of questions and Yves was delighted to answer all of them. In the rare instance on our first tour that he didn’t know the answer to one of them, he came prepared during our 2nd tour with the answer! A plus is that the Broaden Horizons online booking system was very easy to navigate in English (a rarity for French websites) and communication leading up to the tour was perfect. Yves was hands down one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had, and we couldn’t recommend him highly enough."

"The Only Way to Actually SEE the Louvre!

I am WILDLY late at writing this review but a friend recently asked about our tour last year and prompted me to come back. We visited Paris in June last year and I cannot recommend the Private Louvre Tour with Yeves enough!! We did the 4 hour evening tour, and when I tell you we saw nearly the whole Louvre in 4 hours, Yeves did it! He knows everything there is to know about art evolution and art history, he speaks about 5 different languages, and was so positive and enthusiastic about it all. Understanding the significance of the pieces we saw made it so much more interesting. I was so grateful because not only would we not have seen 90% of what he showed us, had we not done a tour, we would have been utterly and completely lost in that maze of a museum. Be prepared to hustle because we booked it from room to room bobbing and weaving through the crowds, and he knew exactly where to go. He timed out the tour perfectly so that we were the very last ones to slip into the Mona Lisa room just before they closed it off for the night and we got a rare unobstructed view! If you have plans to see the Louvre, do not hesitate to book your tour with Yeves!"

"Truly Memorable Tours

We had the absolute pleasure and privilege to have two separate tours with Yves. Our family group of four went on a three hour walking tour of the Marais district first. It was an amazing experience to walk with Yves and have the history, architecture and nuances of the city explained to us in great detail. Yves' knowledge is incredible and his ability to impart this knowledge in such an entertaining and interesting way is a real talent and was much appreciated. Three days later we took the 4 hour night tour of the Louvre. Again, Yves took us on a journey from man's earliest artistic endeavours to the great European Masters. It was both fascinating and thoroughly entertaining. His knowledge of art history is overwhelming and Yves encouraged us to ask questions if we didn't understand something. We cannot recommend Yves highly enough. His tours are truly private and he tailors the experience to your level of knowledge and interest. "A fascinating and thorough tour of the Louvre.

Yves led my wife and I on a fabulous customised tour of the Louvre that was both highly enlightening and also entertaining. "Walking in footsteps of Napoleon I

We had the pleasure of taking the private 4-hour walking tour of Napoleon's Paris with Yves as our guide. Yves was extremely knowledgeable and adjusted the tour on the fly to match my deep background and interests, and he pointed out little spots where French and US overlapped in the Napoleonic Era. The walk moved at a brisk pace and covered a lot in 4 hours. It was an educational adventure that I highly recommend to anyone interested in uncovering the hidden history of Paris.

"Yves is a fantastic guide!!

We chose a 2-hour tour in the evening at the Louvre Museum. Best way to see it as the crowds are less intimidating. He is incredibly knowledgeable and speaks English. We covered a lot of sections in a short amount of time. At the end of the day, he took us to see the Mona Lisa (can't miss, of course) and there were no crowds as it was near closing time. I would highly recommend seeing the Louvre with Yves!!"

"Private tour of Louvre

We went on a private tour in the evening at the Louvre with our two daughters 10,13 (their first visit to France). It was an amazing experience and we were able to understand and experience in 2 hours so much more than what I did with my previous visits on my own.
From my older daughter : “ Our tour of the Louvre was a good experience as the tour was structured very well. We were not only informed of the artefacts, sculptures and paintings, but the history of the Louvre as well which very few people are aware about and focus only on the more famous attractions such as the mona lisa.” we also got a little of an art history lesson which was perfect! "An Exceptional Experience in Paris

In preparation for my trip to France, I researched official options with credentialed experts for a tour of Paris. I found Yves' website and was impressed by the various options for touring Paris and other areas of France. I decided to book the full day tour of Paris (including the Louvre) for first timers, for myself and my mother.

My mother and I were incredibly impressed by Yves' mastery of Parisian history and his ability to customize the tour based on our interests and enthusiasm. As an art and cultural enthusiast, I was impressed with the Louvre tour since we focused on sculpture (one of my favorites) and viewed breathtakingly beautiful works of Renaissance art. Our tour was comprehensive and we covered an incredible amount of ground - it was a visual and intellectual feast! "In depth and extensive.

Yves' energy and enthusiasm for ancient history and the arts is infectious. We were jet-lagged and this was our first outing in Paris but he swept us along and had us enthralled. For the rest of our time in Paris we were pointing out things that he had highlighted about the evolution of sculpture and techniques. There is so much to see at the Louvre and we chose the alternative tour as our son has an interest in ancient history. It was wonderful to explore the lesser known salons and be guided to the highlights and have details explained to us that we would easily have missed. Even more generously, Yves gave us extra time to show us some of the better-known works. A wonderful tour, highly recommend."

"Walking Tour of Paris through Napoleon and it's History

My teenage son and I had a great walking tour with Yves while we were in Paris. The tour was billed as a walking tour of Napoleon in Paris but covered so much more, it includes history, architecture, art, theater and just a great overview of how Paris changed from the Empire to today. Yves was incredibly knowledgeable and really tailored the tour so my son enjoyed as much as I did. "Louvre, daytime tour

The tour and Yves was really a wonderful experience. Made the crowded Louvre a pleasure and taught us a great deal about history and the art within. We had a mix of ages from 6 to 75 years, thus many different needs. Yves accommodated and supported the whole group while keeping his personable and educational approach. "The highlight of our trip!!

This was the best investment and hands down the highlight of our trip!! We booked a tour of the Louvre with Yves. The Louvre is huge and there is so much to see. In two hours, Yves managed to show us an incredible amount. He is deeply knowledgeable about art history, and it was amazingly helpful to have him contextualize what we were seeing for us. We are already planning to book with him again the next time we are in Paris. Don’t hesitate—this is an experience that is worth every penny!!"
